Mason jars are a staple in my kitchen. Partly because I just have so many, but mostly because they are so very versatile. Here are my top 8 ways to use canning jars!
1. Canning! Ok, ok. This is a no-brainer. It’s the reason I have these jars in the first place. I’m not a skilled canner by any stretch, but I do can a few things every year. Specifically, I love applesauce and strawberry jam and chicken stock.
2. Drinking Glasses. I grab these all the time for drinks. I like the size and weight of a pint jar ad they just look so cute!
3. Mini snack cups for the kids. These are the perfect size for small snacks. These 4 oz beauties are perfect for yogurt, berries, pretzels, jello and even more!
4. Rings for toys. So not technically a use for *jars* but these are coming in so very handy in our current life stage. My two babies love to bang them, wear them, throw them, chew on them...
5. DIY jar candles. This might be a little out of left field, but I actually love this! I made 6 or 7 candles this winter out of left over candle wax. It takes a few supplies but its pretty expensive all things considered. I’ll do a post in the future if there’s interest.
6. Sippy cups for the kids. Again, this isn’t a great plan for the toddler crowd, but for bigger kids, this is such a fun way to serve drinks. I use these lids and they work great with or without straws. My kids love ocean water, Gatorade and lemonade. And they all look more fancy in a mason jar!
7. Sweet Tea making. Every day I make at least one batch of sweet tea. It’s a part of my very easy morning routine. I’m terrible in the morning but having a short list of things I always do gives me a way to ground myself each day.
8. Muffin mix. I make this muffin mix at least once a month. It fits excellently in quart jars and I like to have 2-4 in the pantry at all times. It’s easy to customize and works for pancakes and waffles too.
(and of course, you know I love the jars for printing inspiration!)
So tell me, how do you use mason jars?
