Art is a great stress reliever for me. But the thing is, it can be hard to focus on challenging and detailed work when my nerves are already rattled. As a solution, I’ve been creating abstract botanical inspired paintings for some time now. In fact, I have almost 3 sketchbooks FULL of patterns. Just recently, however, I tried my hand at watercolor in my sketchbook.
It was MAGIC. I loved the rich colors and brush work. As the paint dried, it left subtle textures in the leaves. And so, “Rainbow Leaves” were born! You can see the work of this pattern in the “Mini Tree Collection” and in the “Leafy Hearts Collection.”
There is something playful about the swirling leaves and colors on the page. Often, I work in certain color palettes but sometimes I use a whole spectrum of colors. Who knew that my doodling sketchbook would become such a lovely collection of fine art! And lucky for me, my favorite style of stress relief is a lovely painting!
